Individual piano lessons for adults

“Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.” ― Victor Hugo

Who said you will never be able to learn how to play the piano? Our piano lessons are specially designed for adults with or without previous musical knowledge. You will be able to learn at your own pace, without pressure and with realistic goals. In our first interview you will be asked about your musical preferences and we will focus on learning the music you REALLY want to play!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I start anytime during the school year?
Yes! Since our lessons are individual we welcome new students anytime during the year, as long as our teachers have available time slots. However, we strongly recommend you to register as soon as possible for 2024/25 to get the best weekly slots.

I have no previous knowledge and I am 60 years old. Can I still learn the piano?
For sure! Our oldest student is 87 years old! And we have had students over 70 who had no previous musical knowledge, and who now can play beautiful pieces in several styles. If you are willing to put in a little bit of effort and practice you will be able to play nicely in not such a long time!

How do I know if I will like the piano if I have never tried it before?
For new students, the first lesson is always a TRIAL LESSON. The trial lesson is a great way to get to know your teacher and see if you enjoy the piano. The trial lesson has the same cost as any other lesson.

Are there other activities during the year where I can participate in?
Yes! This is one of the strengths of our school. Once every semester there is a student's concert / party where pupils can play their favourite songs for friends and family, and have some cocktails & snacks afterwards while interacting with all the other students and teachers. We organise other cultural events such as our popular Afternoon Tea + Piano, where we blend our passion for music with our passion for cakes! Finally, we also bring our students to inspiring concerts, and general rehearsals or shows at the Oslo Opera.

What happens if I'm sick or have to travel on the day of my lesson?
In many music schools if you miss a lesson you cannot take it again. But at OIPS we don't want you to miss your lessons for any reason. Our weekly students have the chance to take up to 2 free make up lessons per semester, always subject to the teacher's availability.

Is there a binding time for weekly lessons?
At the moment of registration, the student commits to at least one semester of piano lessons at OIPS.

I have a very irregular schedule and/or I travel a lot. I cannot commit to weekly piano lessons. Do you have any options for me?Yes! We have lesson packages of 5/10/20 lessons each. You will be able to schedule each lesson online at the time that works best for you.

What happens if I want to discontinue my lessons or if I have to move to another city in the middle of course 2024/25?
You can cancel your contract for the second semester (starting 6 January) by writing to the studio's administration      (info@oslointernationalpianostudio.com) before 1 December. If we don't hear from you by that date, we will understand that you have chosen to stay during the second semester as well.

How do I pay for my piano course?

The whole amount of the school year will be split into 10 installments that will be charged automatically to your bank account via eFaktura. Check out our prices.

Can I read the whole studio policy?
Sure! Check it out here.
