Individual piano lessons for adults
“Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.” ― Victor Hugo
Who said you will never be able to learn how to play the piano? Our piano lessons are specially designed for adults with or without previous musical knowledge. You will be able to learn at your own pace, without pressure and with realistic goals. In our first interview you will be asked about your musical preferences and we will focus on learning the music you REALLY want to play. I am so happy to have found OIPS, Emília and my teacher Natàlia. They are attentive, professional, and take a genuine interest in your goals and learning process. I cannot recommend them enough!" Anders Østensvig (Norway). Read more reviews here. The best piano teacher in Oslo. Learning to play as an adult is both fun and inspiring with Emilia as a teacher. She helps you learn the type of music you love and the lessons are always playful. Very grateful to have her as my teacher." Inia James (Australia). Read more reviews here. |

Learning how to play piano was one of my dreams and I never could take the first step until I came in Oslo. I had enough time and courage to start here and hopefully I found the best piano studio and lovely people like Emilia and Natalia. Such a lovely place and people to start playing piano with. As my teacher Natalia was so helpful, kind and she always smiles :). I made too many mistakes but improved a lot since the beginning. And during the semester Tuesdays were my best days where I come to the studio and focus on the music and piano. Now, even I cannot believe how much I improved and how beautiful it sounds when I play, so thanks to Natalia for her effort on me and to Emilia for creating such a lovely environment for the people who come here to play piano. I'll keep playing piano with joy and passion." Baris Selcen (Turkey). Read more reviews here. |

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Can I start anytime during the school year?
Yes! Since our lessons are individual we welcome new students anytime during the year, as long as our teachers have available time slots. However, we strongly recommend you to register as soon as possible for 2019/20 to get the best weekly spots.
I have no previous knowledge and I am 60 years old. Can I still learn the piano?
For sure! We have had students of almost 70 years old who had no previous musical knowledge, and they managed to play beautiful pieces in different styles. If you are willing to put in a little bit of effort and practice you will be able to play nicely in not such a long time!
How do I know if I will like the piano if I have never tried it before?
For new students, the first lesson is always a TRIAL LESSON. The trial lesson is a great way to get to know your teacher and see if you enjoy the piano. The trial lesson has the same cost as any other lesson.
Are there other activities during the year where I can participate in?
Yes! This is one of the strengths of our school. Once every semester there is a student's concert / party where pupils can play their favourite songs for friends and family, and have some cocktails & snacks afterwards while interacting with all the other students and teachers. We also organise a series of events called Music + Wine: they are evenings specifically designed for our students and friends, where they can enjoy live piano music, entertaining lectures and wine while they meet new people. Finally, we also are responsible for organising OIPS Culture Week in June every year,a piano festival with lots of activities, concerts and masterclasses, free for our students.
What happens if I'm sick or have to travel on the day of my lesson?
In many music schools if you miss a lesson you cannot take it again. But at OIPS we don't want you to miss your lessons for any reason. That's why we have created the Joker Day: it happens once every trimester and students can register for free to make up for up to two lessons per student each trimester. Also, if you know in advance that you will be gone during a particular week, you can tell the teacher beforehand and try to find another spot for the missed lessons.
Is there a binding time?
At the moment of registration, the student commits to at least 3 months of piano lessons at OIPS. Group lessons have a binding time of one semester.
What happens if I want to discontinue my lessons or if I have to move to another city in the middle of the course?
After the binding time, if the student wishes to stop taking lessons he or she has to let the studio know 4 weeks (28 days) before deadline of the payment of the next installment and all his upcoming invoices will be cancelled.
I have a very irregular schedule and/or I travel a lot. I cannot commit to weekly piano lessons. Do you have any options for me?
Yes! We have voucher cards of 5 lessons each (valid for 6 months). You will be able to schedule each lesson online at the time that works best for you. Check our voucher options here.
